PUPR Handles Beach Abrasion In Abdya With Hundreds Of Geobags
BANDA ACEH - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing distributed hundreds of geobags or geotextile bags to help deal with the coastal abrasion of Keudai Palak Kermbil Village, Susoh District, Southwest Aceh Regency (Abdya) which has occurred since the last few days.
Head of the Operational and Maintenance Section of the PUPR Office of Abdya Musliadi Regency said the geobag for handling short-term shoreline abrasion was sent by the Ministry of PUPR through the Sumatra 1 River Basin Center of Aceh Province.
"There are about 31 balls or as many as 620 sheets. This geobag will later be filled with soil or sand and then installed along the shoreline of Keudai Palak Kermbil Village, Susoh to prevent abrasion due to tidal waves," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 22.
For land filling and installation of hundreds of geobags along the abrasion-affected shoreline in the village, the PUPR Service will coordinate with the Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBK) and the local community.
"Tomorrow (23/9) we will coordinate with BPBK and the community regarding the installation of this geobag. Is it with a mutual cooperation system, or in other ways, so that hundreds of geotextile bags of aid are installed and residents' houses are safe from abrasion," he said.
