Supporting Presidential Candidates, AHY Asks Prabowo To Participate In Carrying Out The Democratic Change Agenda

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) asked the presidential candidate for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, Prabowo Subianto, to carry out the agenda of changing the Democratic Party if he was elected president for the 2024-2029 period.

This was conveyed by AHY at the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Democratic Party who officially announced his support for Prabowo as a presidential candidate.

"Our strong message is to request that a number of agenda changes and improvements that have been fought for by the Democratic Party so far," AHY said after the Democratic National Meeting at JCC, Central Jakarta, Thursday, September 21.

Agenda perubahan Partai Demokrat yang dimaksud AHY menyangkut perubahan urusan ekonomi dan kesejahteraan, urusan penegakan hukum dan keadilan, demokrasi, hingga kebebasan berpendapat.

However, AHY also asked the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party to continue the achievement of the previous government which was considered good, ranging from President Soekarno, Suharto, Habibie, Abdurrahman Wahid, Megawati Soekarnoputri, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, to Joko Widodo.

"Nothing is perfect. We know and I am happy because Pak Prabowo also has the same spirit that if there is something good, continue. However, if something is not good, we will fix it together," he said.

For AHY, Prabowo is a figure who realizes that leadership needs a big team to support him. Prabowo, according to him, is a figure who does not deny his words and actions.

"Leaders who are aware that he is not Superman, therefore he needs a super team. We also need a patriotic leader. We also need a strong leader with character and experience and most importantly, always taking care of one word with his actions," he said.

The Democratic Party finally joined the Forward Indonesia Coalition to support Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election. This decision was taken after the Democrats withdrew cooperation with the party supporting Anies Baswedan who collaborated with Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

This support is the result of the decision of the Party High Council (MTP). Prabowo has also met with AHY and MTP Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Democratic Party elite at his residence, Hambalang, West Java on Sunday, September 17.
