Disguised As Santriwati, Man From Gowa Tricks Mining Employees In Kalimantan
The South Sulawesi Regional Police through the Cybercrime Ditreskrimsus ranks arrested a man with the initials S (53) from Gowa Regency for committing fraud by claiming to be a student.
Panit Subdit V Cybercrime Ditreskrimsus Polda Sulsel AKP Iqbal Usman E said the perpetrator committed fraud through Facebook accounts on social media targeting an employee of a mining company in the Kalimantan region.
The man who works as an entrepreneur every day in his disguise then looks for the employee using a photo of a woman with a veil on behalf of the Facebook account "Arini Juwita".
"The victim's initials AW (35) is from Makassar. He migrated to Kalimantan to work as a mining employee. Currently, we have secured the perpetrators and evidence at the South Sulawesi Police Headquarters for further investigation," said Iqbal, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.
In fact, he said, S also claimed to be a woman around the age of 20 years and was ready to be edited by victim AW. then both of them communicate intensively.
As for the chronology of the incident, the victim and the perpetrator got acquainted through social media. Then the perpetrator acts as a Muslim woman (santriwati), memorizes Al-Quran, then S invites the victim to get married.
"The perpetrators also often ask for money, including money for their dowry and money for preparing for other wedding needs," he said.

This perpetrator's disguise has been carried out since last August. It was later revealed after the victim came to Makassar City, South Sulawesi, to meet the perpetrators.
In addition, Iqbal also revealed that the proceeds of S's crime were used for his daily needs and also for playing lottery gambling.
S was later arrested at his residence in Tinggimoncong District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi on Friday (15/9).
For S's actions, he will be charged with Article 45 a paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of the ITE Law with a maximum penalty of six years in prison.
