Meeting The PM Malaysia, President Jokowi Gets TKI Protection
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed a number of issues that he discussed with Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Hassin at the Jakarta Palace.
In the closed meeting, President Jokowi entrusted Indonesian citizens in Malaysia, including Indonesian workers (TKI).
"I am again entrusting Indonesian citizens in Malaysia to the Malaysian government," said President Jokowi in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Friday, February 5.
Through the meeting, Jokowi said that the two countries needed to build a one channel system and finalize a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the placement and protection of Indonesian domestic workers in Malaysia.
This needs to be done so that the problem of placement of workers can be done better.
"(This, red) is to prevent workers from becoming victims of human trafficking," he said.
In addition, Jokowi expressed his appreciation to the Malaysian government for protecting the Indonesian citizens who were there when the COVID-19 pandemic occurred.
"I express my appreciation and appreciation for the cooperation in protecting Indonesian citizens in Malaysia, especially during the pandemic," said Jokowi.
Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Hassin is the first state guest in Indonesia in 2021.
His arrival at the State Palace was welcomed by President Jokowi with an official ceremony and attended by a number of ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, including Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and State Secretary Minister Pratikno.
