World Oil Prices Soar, Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Worried Pertalite Consumption Rises
JAKARTA - World oil prices touched the highest level throughout 2023. Reporting from Reuters, Brent oil prices jumped to 94 US dollars per barrel on Friday 15 September.
Facing this, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is worried that non-subsidized fuel consumers will switch to using subsidized fuel such as the Pertalite Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) and certain types of diesel fuel (JBT).
The reason is, with the increase in petroleum, fuel providers will increase the price of non-subsidized fuel to adjust to the economy of each type of fuel.
"Yesterday we saw that (the price of non-subsidized fuel) had increased. This prompted people to use Pertalite," said Arifin when met by VOI at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Jakarta, Friday, September 15.
Just so you know, on September 1, Pertamina made price adjustments to all non-subsidized fuel products. Price adjustments have been made at Pertamax RON 92 to Rp13,300 per liter, Pertamax Green E5 (RON 95) to Rp15,000 per liter, Pertamax turbo (RON 98) to Rp15,900 per liter. The price of fuel dexlite (CN 51) is priced at Rp16,350 per liter and Pertamina Dex (CN 53) to Rp16,900, from the previous Rp14,350 per liter.
Meanwhile, the price of Pertalite is priced at IDR 10,000 per liter and diesel is sold for IDR 6,800 per liter.

Arifin explained, With this increased consumption, it is feared that the use of Pertalite will experience an overquate of the amount that has been provided. For this reason, Arifin appealed to the public to use fuel according to vehicle specifications and encourage people to use a more environmentally friendly type of fuel.
"Many of those who drive are also able to afford this segment. They should be able to consume fuel that is more environmentally friendly," concluded Arifin.
It is known that the Pertalite quota is safe until the end of the year. In a Hearing Meeting with Commission VII of the DPR RI, the President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga Niaga Riva Siahaan ensured that the quota for the Pertalite Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) was still safe or did not experience an overquote.
The Pertalite fuel quota in the 2023 State Budget is 32.56 million KL while Pertamina's prognosis until the end of 2023 is 30.83 KL.
