Police Will Name Suspect In Ayuterra Resort Elevator Case In Death Of 5 People

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Gianyar Police, Bali, AKP Ario Seno Wimoko confirmed that there would be a suspect in the tragedy of the deadly elevator at Ayuterra Resort Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali.

However, the determination of the suspect is still waiting for information from a number of experts.

"This negligence is also one of the criminal acts. Because of this, there have been five fatalities, automatically someone will be responsible. Who is responsible? It will be determined later through the testimony of expert witnesses. There will definitely be a suspect because from the beginning of the LP (Police Report), we have also directly investigated, not an investigation anymore," said AKP Seno, Thursday, September 7.

So far, 13 witnesses have been questioned by Ayuterra Resort.

Meanwhile, experts who are asked for opinions related to criminal elements come from Udayana University, Bali to the Ministry of Manpower.

"What we are doing now, we are doing an invitation letter to related expert witnesses for us to ask for information. The first is from the forensic laboratory to find the cause, then the two witnesses we asked for information are the Ministry of Manpower, field of K3. In Jakarta," he said.

In addition, according to AKP Seno, the police are still waiting for the results from the Bali Police Labfor.

"It can't be rushed if all the information is complete, then we will carry out the case," he explained.

The police suspect that one of the causes of the elevator fell at Ayuterra Resort Ubud, Gianyar, Bali, due to a reduction in steel sampling ropes.

"Actually, one of the reasons it fell down was because the rope broke. We have to separate this, so it would be better if there were two sling ropes. Or it could be more, even better. Because if one break there is backup, right like that," said AKP Ario Seno, Tuesday, 5 Sep

The police said that initially there were 3 rope slip lifts at Ayuterra Resort Ubud. But in March 2023, the sling rope was reduced to one.

"If we say the rope can carry a burden of 500 kilograms, 1 ton should be more than enough. But if there is only one (sling rope) there is no backup if it breaks. The name is rope as strong as it can break," he added.

There were also facts about the absence of an emergency brake at the Ayuterra Resort Ubud elevator. This accident is said to be fatal.

"The emergency brake can be said to be non-existent. There are only brakes but according to technical information, the point is to slow down. It turns out that it doesn't slow down either. (My brakes) don't really know the term. (It's a brake) inside the elevator wheel, it doesn't work, so as seen in the video, it goes down there," he said.
