Coal Smoke In Cakung Until Firefighters Experiencing Shortness Of Breath
JAKARTA - A coal processing site on Jalan Green Sedayu 3, RT 07/06, East Cakung Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta, was hit by a fire on Wednesday night, September 6. Black smoke and flames continued to burn, making it difficult for officers to extinguish the fire.
"The cause of the fire came from the hot weather factor and there was no attempt to cool down the owner (PT). The object that caught fire was coal processing. The loss was estimated at Rp55 million," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, Thursday, September 7.
According to officers, the owner of the coal processing site is PT Sedayu Batubara. There were no casualties or injuries from the fire.
"The fire started at around 20.15 WIB, one of the security guards saw the coal mountain emitting small smoke from the east side. But over time, smoke got thicker and immediately extinguished using the company's portable mini, but it didn't work," he said.

Furthermore, the company contacted the Cakung Timur sub-district because the smoke and fire had disrupted the environmental conditions of local residents.
In the process of extinguishing the fire, officers deployed 10 fire engines with 50 personnel deployed. The fire was successfully localized at 23.10 WIB.
"Constraints during the fire, coal fires emit very thick smoke, causing natural officers to have shortness of breath," he said.
