Vice President: ASEAN's Strength Is Centered On Cooperation And Peace
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that ASEAN's strength is centered on the culture of cooperation, peace, and respect for diversity.
This was revealed by the Vice President when giving a key speech at the 2023 ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) Awarding Night and Gala Dinner at The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom Jakarta, Monday, September 4.
"ASEAN forces are centered on the culture of cooperation, peace, and respect for the diversity of ASEAN countries," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA.
The Vice President underlined Indonesia's commitment to maintaining harmony in diversity, encouraging a peaceful approach to conflict resolution, and respecting international law.
"As a diversity country, Indonesia understands very well the hard work in maintaining harmony and unity in diversity. That is why Indonesia is steadfast in pushing for peaceful approaches, constructive dialogue, and compliance with international law in resolving conflicts," he explained.

The vice president also reminded that ASEAN's external challenges are currently increasingly complex. He invited all ASEAN member countries to strengthen unity and comply with the principles in the ASEAN charter to maintain regional centrality.
The ASEAN unity and centrality are the main forces driving the creation of peace, stability, and growth in the region. I want to reiterate, ASEAN is valuable to its 660 million people, to the Indo-Pacific region and to the world," said the Vice President.
