The Story Of Kaka Slank Inspired By Ahmad Albar To Become A Rockstar

JAKARTA - Kaka Slank took the time to give testimony in A Tribute to God Bless which took place at the Synchronize Fest 2023 at Gambir Expo Kemayoran, North Jakarta on Saturday, September 2.

The vocalist of the legendary band called God Bless, especially Ahmad Albar, his inspiration in music.

"In the past, my family always said 'You don't have to be like a lot of things, so God Bless, so just Ahmad Albar," said Kaka in his testimony from the stage.

The admiration for God Bless' vocalist began when Kaka decided to find an identity through rock music.

"In the past, rock music was my escape to find an identity. Finally I got an identity that could represent me through rock music," said Kaka.

"I bought a cassette first, the title was Hits Collection. There was compilation, there was Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones and others," he continued.

When he started looking for role models in the country, Kaka admitted to finding God Bless who then inspired him.

"We have God Bless. Don't go far, we have God Bless," said Kaka.

"Since then, God Bless has been my reference about 'how to be a rockstar'," he added.

God Bless became a reference for Kaka in terms of appearing as a band. He also admitted that he made Ahmad Albar an inspiration in finding his own singing character.

"The way I sing, when I study singing, I always see how Ahmad Albar sings," said Kaka.

"Then, if you look at the band, what if you make a fun band, the hangout is cool, the costume is good, God Bless is always a reference," he said again.

For Kaka, Ahmad Albar is an irreplaceable figure in God Bless. He saw that no one could replace the man who is familiarly called Iyek.

Ahmad Albar's voice cannot be replaced in God Bless. God Bless replaces vocalist? No way, impossible," concluded Kaka.
