Media Center ASEAN Summit At JCC Provides Archipelago Dishes
JAKARTA - Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Information Usman Kansong said the media center at the 43rd ASEAN Summit provides the Nusantara and West (Western) menu.
"(The Minister) is varied. There is a Nusantara dish and there is also a Western menu. For example, various types of coffee from the regions. While introducing it too," said Usman, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 3.
Indonesia served as Chair of ASEAN in 2023 with the theme "ASEAN Matters Epicentrum of Growth". The goal of ASEAN Matters is to make ASEAN relevant and important for the people of Indonesia, ASEAN and the surrounding area. Meanwhile, Epicentrum of Growth is Indonesia's desire to circumscribe ASEAN as the center of economic growth.
Previously, Indonesia had held the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in May 2023.
Usman explained that the media center for the 43rd ASEAN Summit has a capacity of up to 2,500 people and is at the Jakarta Convention Center's Exhibition Hall B, Jakarta.
The ASEAN media center provides various facilities such as a workspace equipped with a laptop, dining space, 20 media booths, prayer rooms, massage chairs for relaxation, clinics, toilets, video village, and three big screens for journalists to monitor activities during the ASEAN Summit.
"We also provide an internet network with a capacity of 10 Gbps," he said, adding that the media center of the ASEAN Summit began operating from September 2 to 8.

Usman said on Saturday (2/9) more than 1,700 journalists had been registered or accredited for the ASEAN event. "There may be additional official media brought by the head of state and official traveling press (OTP)," he said.
He added that around 2,000 more journalists from Indonesia, member countries, 22 partner countries and international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank will cover ASEAN.
A number of hospitals, namely Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP), Siloam Semanggi Hospital, Jakarta Hospital, Medistra Hospital and Medika Permata Hijau Hospital were also prepared during the ASEAN Summit.
