4 Days Not Yet Extinguished, The Spread Of Mount Arjuno's Hotspots Is Triggered By Strong Winds

JAKARTA - The Head of the Malang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Nur Fuad Fauzi said the fire fighting on Mount Arjuno was hampered by heights and strong winds.

"First, the height is quite sharp and difficult to reach, the second is strong winds on the slopes. The wind is so wild that the fire spreads quickly," said Nur, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

Nur Fuad said that the area affected by the fire of the people's forest park was under the Forestry Service of East Java Province.

Fires in locations that are administrative areas of Malang Regency can be tamed on Tuesday night. However, the hotspots were seen returning to Malang Regency because the wind spread the fire.

"The location is very far from settlements, so many of which are burned are weeds," said Nur Fuad.

His party together with the TNI/Polri are preventing the hotspots from spreading on the slopes of Mount Arjuno.

In addition, law enforcement is sought for suspected perpetrators of illegal hunting who deliberately caused a fire.

The Malang Regency BPBD also coordinates with local authorities to urge nature lovers to postpone climbing or camping activities during the blackout.

As a result of the illegal hunting activity, there were forest and land fires, precisely in plot 116 B, Resor Pemangku Hutan (RPH) Sumberawan, Toyomarto Village, Singosari District.

Tahura Raden Soerjo is home to a number of animals, including long-tailed monkeys, Javan eagles, black monkeys, hedgehogs, rice fields, forest chicken, kutilang, squirrels, guava, and rat or white alaps.

Illegal hunting activities are suspected to localize animals and make it easier for hunters. The hotspots first appeared in Sriti Bulk, Singosari District, Malang Regency, Saturday (26/8) in the morning.

Based on the monitoring of Tahura Raden Soerjo on Sunday, there were seven hotspots that the joint team tried to extinguish. Of the seven hotspots, they have now decreased and two points remain in the effort to extinguish them.
