This was conveyed by Dannif during his visit to South Africa on Friday, August 25, 2023. During the visit, there were several business potentials captured by Pertamina NRE as a Pertamina's subsidiary focused on clean energy, including gas-based and renewable energy-based power generation. Pertamina became one of the BUMNs included in the series of visits by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and South Africa, on August 20. We hope to be able to carry out cooperation with investment with local partners. On the downstream side, Pertamina NRE has the potential to be able to utilize natural gas produced for power generation. From the results of the discussion we identify that currently in Africa there is still a high enough electric demand potential. Likewise, for renewable energy especially solar energy, specifically for South Africa already has sufficient regulation to support,'' said Dannif, as well as the development of electrical export facilities to South Africa which will involve Pertamina NRE. Specifically for South Africa the solar power potential reaches 100 MW. Previously, Pertamina has signed a memorandum of understanding with GUMA, local companies focused on investment and infrastructure improvement in Africa, for the cooperation region of Kenya, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The commitment is also related to the cooperation of gas pipeline development and optimization, gas power generation development, as well as the development of electrical export facilities to South Africa that will involve Pertamina NRE.Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added, Pertamina also brings several subholding to explore the potential for cooperation in Africa. Such work, said Fadjar, is expected to further strengthen the national energy security, as well as realizing the company's role as a global energy company.
