Police Name One Suspect In PMI Smuggling Case At The RI-Malaysia Limit
KAPUAS HULU - Police Resort (Polres) Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, named one suspect with the initials KSN in the alleged smuggling of illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) on the Indonesia-Malaysia border.
"The suspect plans to bring illegal PMIs through the rat route in the Strong Puring District which is directly adjacent to Malaysia," said Kapuas Hulu Police Chief AKBP Hendrawandilansir ANTARA, Monday, August 28.
According to him, initially the police arrested seven non-procedural PMI candidates from outside West Kalimantan in Miau Merah Village, Silat Hilir District, who were about to leave for Malaysia.
Based on the statements of the PMI candidates, said Hendrawan, they have been directed by the KSN suspect to go to Badau District and are planned to be temporarily accommodated at the suspect's house.

Prior to the PMI smuggling action through the rat road in the Strong Puring District, the Kapuas Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested the suspect KSN.
"Currently, we have detained KSN and evidence for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the seven PMIs were handed over to the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center in Pontianak, to be sent back to their area of origin," said Hendrawan.
The suspect was charged with Article 81 of Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the protection of Indonesian migrant workers with a maximum threat of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 15 billion.
