BNPB Records A Number Of Drought Central Java-East Java Areas
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) noted that a number of areas in Central Java and East Java were affected by drought based on reports from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the region.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari explained that in Central Java province, BPBD informed that its five regencies experienced drought.
"The impact of the dry season has been felt by residents since July 2023. The four districts affected by drought are Kendal, Klaten, Temanggung and Sragen Regencies," Abdul said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.
Abdul reported from BPBD data for Central Java province, 3,320 families or 11,027 people were affected in a number of areas. Each district BPBD has provided clean water assistance to residents. The latest report on Thursday (24/8) states that the water needs have been met.
Meanwhile, in Jember Regency, East Java, the lack of water supply was felt by residents of Pilangan Village, Kalisat District. A total of 247 families in this village were affected by drought.
"The BPBD of Jember Regency has distributed water to residents. In addition, two reservoirs to accommodate water assistance. BPBD also distributes liquid soap aid originating from BNPB," said Abdul.

Abdul said there were differences in climate conditions experienced by regions in Indonesia. Several northwestern areas of Sumatra experienced flooding, such as in Aceh and North Sumatra. While some other areas have low rainfall.
This situation triggers the danger of drought, such as on the island of Java. The local government is affected by the distribution of clean water to residents.
