Coordinating Minister For Coordination With BI-OJK Closes Accounts For Online Judicial Affiliated

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi said that his party is preparing coordination with Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to be able to identify and close bank accounts affiliated with the perpetrators and operators of online gambling.

This step was referred to by Budi as one of the "increasing" that he had prepared in eradicating the practice of gambling since he first served as Minister of Communication and Information.

"We'll just block the account at the bank. If that's the case, what do you want to do with him? We'll cooperate with BI and OJK later," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 23.

The Ministry of Communication and Information in the last two months has actively intensified the termination of access to gambling websites and applications.

From August 2018 to July 19, 2023, the Ministry of Communication and Information has blocked 846,047 access to websites and gambling applications.

In order to be more effective in eradicating the practice of gambling, Budi admitted that coordination between ministries and institutions as well as industries had been launched, starting from precautions to taking action against people affiliated with gambling.

The latest is the action as carried out by the National Police, on Tuesday (22/8) the Bogor Police arrested a celebgram with the initials SZM (22) for promoting gambling to many of its followers on social media.

Budi hopes that the Indonesian people can take an active role in eradicating the practice of gamblingline so that activities that harm the country can be completed immediately.

"Right now, we are moving fast, as soon as we know (there is a gambling line) we will wipe it directly, we take it down. People must also actively report if they are like this (online gambling)," said Budi.

Reporting websites and gambling applications can be done by all Indonesian people through the complaint.id website, sending emails to the complaint @mail.kominfo.go.id, as well as to the WhatsApp number 08119224545.
