Buying Helicopters, German Helicopter Fleet Will Be NATO's 2nd Largest After The US
JAKARTA - Germany will become the country with its second-largest helicopter fleet in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance, only losing to the United States, the head of the country's air force said.
The head of the German Air Force Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz said that after Germany decided to buy 60 Helicopters. The purchases included the required support packages of up to 8 billion euros or around Rp33,494,937,200.
In detail, 6.27 billion euros for helicopter purchases, 700 million euros for service, 240 million euros for national contracts and 750 million euros for infrastructure.
"We will be the country with the second largest number of helicopters in NATO after the US," Lieutenant General Gerhartz said.
Nearly 50 Helicopters will be stationed on the Holzdorf/Schoenewalde site in eastern Germany, where 1,000 additional troops will also be stationed, added Gerhartz.
"Schoenewalde site will play a unique key role for the Air Force, the entire Bundeswehr and Germany's security," he said.
The purchase was intended to replace Germany's old CH-53 helicopter fleet, with an initial budget of around 6 billion euros.
It is known that the British Royal Air Force is currently the second-largest job operator, as quoted by Frontier India.
