Commemorating Indonesian Independence, Minister of Social Affairs: Don't Ruin the The Struggle of our Heroes

JAKARTA- Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini hosted the ceremony for the 78th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Office of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Jakarta wearing traditional clothes from Lampung Province. The employees of the Ministry of Social Affairs took part in the ceremony wearing regional traditional clothes.

After the flag ceremony, the Minister of Social Affairs remembered the struggle of her late grandfather and father when they tried to win independence from colonialists in the city of Surabaya.

She also interprets Indonesia's independence day by not destroying the results of the struggle of the heroes, namely maintaining the unity of the nation from various differences.

She continued this struggle when he became the Mayor of Surabaya, with his efforts to make residents in that location free from flooding. Thus, she interpreted independence by not betraying the struggle of her late grandfather and father.

"So, because of that I don't want his name to hurt the results of the struggle, maybe a small part of my late father and my grandfather. So, because of that, what's the point of us being different?" said Social Minister Risma, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 17.

According to the Minister of Social Affairs Risma, the various differences between tribes, races and cultures must still be in the corridor of the unity of the Indonesian nation and must not be divided. Because, the warriors have inherited so much wealth that must be guarded.

Minister of Social Affairs Risma also emphasized that as the Minister of Social Affairs, she must also provide independence for the homeless, people with disabilities, and people with mental disorders (ODGJ).

Thus, the Minister of Social Affairs Risma ensures that they can live a decent and well-maintained life, especially not being homeless on the streets and neglected.

"Yes, that's independence for them. Disabilities, what independence, what freedom do children have. If you are free, you must feel that I live without discrimination, even though I am poor, even though I have a disability, even though I am elderly, old, I don't have anyone anymore," she concluded.
