12,429 Jayapura Residents Derita ISPA, Most Cases In Sentani
JAYAPURA - The Jayapura District Health Office (Dinkes) noted that at least 12,429 local residents had experienced Acute Respiratory Channel Infection (ISPA) in the last six months. Secretary of the Jayapura District Health Office Edward Sihotang said his party noted that the highest ISPA in the Sentani area reached 3,031 incidents and incidents in the Unurum Guay District 1,060 cases.
"So we intervened by providing nutritional intake for the community, such as giving vitamins to toddlers and pregnant women during the posyandu," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Thursday, August 10, which was confiscated by Antara.
According to Sihotang, his party has given a warning to the puskesmas in Jayapura Regency to promote so that the increase in ARI cases does not increase, especially during the climate change of El Nino, which is predicted to be the peak of the dry season in August-September 2023.
"The conditions that occur are not only related to environmental situations but the factors that cause ARI are indeed quite large, such as climate change of El Nino where air temperature becomes so hot that bacteria can easily enter the breath," he said.

He explained that his party will continue to monitor by providing education and receiving proper treatment and then environmental health services.
"Especially in the districts where the ISPA cases are still quite high, such as Unurum Guay, Yapsi and East Sentani where they are still at a thousand," he said again.
He added that apart from ARI, there are several things that concern El Nino's climate change, such as stunting because it will disrupt food security so that the stunting rate can increase.
"So we have issued a circular regarding the provision of additional food to be intensified in the July-September 2023 period," he said.
