Mining Association Says Indonesia Exports Pasir Quarter Almost 100 Percent To China
JAKARTA - Advisory Boarding of the Indonesian Quarter Mining Association (Hipki) Rezki Syahrir revealed, currently almost 100 percent of Indonesia's quartz sand is exported to China.
The export of quartz sand has only started in 2020 or has only been running for three years.
"So far, Indonesia's exports are almost 100 percent to China. But what needs to be remembered is that Indonesia has only started to export quartz sand in early 2020 and is now in its third year," he said in the Mining Zone quoted on Thursday, August 9.
He added that prior to export activities, quartz sand was used for domestic purposes for ceramic and cement production.
"The quartz market in Indonesia has actually developed well for a long time, but in general it is mostly used for cement factories," added Rezki.
He continued, after starting to carry out export activities, Indonesia took a portion of 3 percent of world quartz sand exports. However, he said, Indonesia is not the largest player in this commodity.
Indonesia is even outside the top 10 world quartz sand exporting countries.

After the export tap opened in 2020, he continued, the country that is most ready to receive quartz sand exports from Indonesia is China and shifts Cambodia, Pakistan and Australia as the country that supplies quartz sand to the bamboo curtain country.
"Before 2020, China imported a lot but not from Indonesia. The majority of Australia was also from Cambodia and Pakistan. After entering the export market, Indonesia shifted the roles of Australia, Cambodia and Pakistan," concluded Rezki.
