Corey Taylor: Many People In Iowa Are Embarrassed By Slipknot Coming From There
JAKARTA - Corey Taylor revealed that people in the state of Slipknot in Iowa were embarrassed by his presence and his band.
Taylor said he thought the Iowans were still "very angry" about Slipknot's success, pointing out this is due to the increasing state conservatism and insults to musicians from the regions who have never had the same level of success.
"We have been on trial for so long about who we are, I mean we are from The fringe and what we represent is something that, to be done today, is still a curse for many people in Iowa," he said in an appearance on the Zach Sang Show program.
"There are a lot of people in Iowa who are very embarrassed by the fact that Slipknot is from there and that's because of the newly discovered Awakening and conservative nonsense."
When Sang expressed his surprise at people who were disappointed with Slipknot who came from Iowa, Taylor said: "No if you're from there, not if you know the people. There are a lot of thugs who still live in Des Moines, Iowa, who are so crazy. I know a man I've known for 30 years, I met them and they looked sharply at me.

There are so many bitter stabs in the city that stuff and, you know, they don't seem to want to accept the fact that they don't want it [successfully] as much as we want. And I'm not going to sit here and say they don't deserve it because there are so many great bands on this scene that we put out, but for whatever reason, they don't push hard enough and even when we do, and we try to highlight the Des Moines scene, because it's almost in a weird way like Seattle moments.
There are a lot of people who are tracking Des Moines trying to find the next Slipknot. Everyone we're trying to help failed, they just don't want it as much as we know: I mean, we're going to live and die for nonsense and these guys just think it's cute.
