Papuan Police Chief Reveals Location Of KKB Hostage Pilot Susi Air Difficult To Reach

Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri admitted that the location of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) holding Susi Air's pilots hostage was in a very difficult field to reach.

"KKB leader Egianus Kogoya also often moves locations of hostage-taking in the Nduga and Lanny Jaya areas so that members find it difficult to approach the location, especially since the KKB also always keeps the hostages," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Monday, August 7, was confiscated by Antara.

Fakhiri said the hostage release effort was still prioritizing negotiations by providing space for community leaders, religions and families to approach Egianus to release the hostages safely.

Susi Air Pilot Philip Mark Merthens has been held hostage since February 7 shortly after landing his plane in Paro, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.

From the information received, it was revealed that the Nduga Regent's official had met with Egianus, but what the results of the conversation were still waiting for information.

"We are still waiting for further information regarding the discussion held with the Egianus group," said Fakhiri.

Fakhiri hopes that Egianus will immediately release the hostages in good health and safety and nothing less.

"Negotiation can be done but most importantly it does not ask for independence and weapons or ammunition," said Fakhiri.
