Strengthening Long-Term Commitment, MG Will Build An Electric Vehicle Factory In Indonesia
JAKARTA - SAIC Motor, a Chinese company that now owns MG Motor, continues to expand its global market by presenting superior products.
One market that MG wants to control is Indonesia. Since the return of the MG brand to the Indonesian automotive market in 2020, this brand does not want to lose to other producers who have long been involved in the Indonesian vehicle industry.
The brand plans to take more steps by assembling vehicles locally through factory manufacturing. Currently, MG cars circulating in Indonesia are still imported from Thailand (Completely Built Up/CBU).
Arief Syarifudin, Director of Marketing and Public Relations of MG Motor Indonesia, expressed his pride in announcing the MG Motor plan to produce vehicles in Indonesia.
"This decision shows MG's strong commitment to be present in Indonesia by providing solutions to electric vehicles for the community and changing their hopes for the experience of owning global quality vehicles," Arief said in a statement on Wednesday, August 2.
This step also reflects MG Motor Indonesia's long-term commitment to investment to remain competitive in the country's automotive industry. Although there is no detailed information regarding the construction of the factory, MG emphasized that this step will be implemented soon.
"This action is expected to increase the confidence of the Indonesian people in choosing MG as an option vehicle, with offers of innovation and cutting-edge technology that can change their views," added Arief.
Next year, MG will celebrate a century of its existence in the automotive world. Since the first time it paved, MG has reached 84 countries, including Indonesia.
