Inflation in July 2023 Reaches 3.08 Percent, Here's the Response of Indef Economists
JAKARTA - Indef economist Ahmad Heri Firdaus said that July 2023 inflation was included in the Indonesian government's achievement target.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), July 2023 Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation was recorded at 0.21 percent month to month (mtm), so that on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) it was 3.08 percent.
"If it is 3.08 percent, it means that it is within the target range for the Indonesian government-BI," said Heri when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, August 2.
According to Heri, there are a number of things that need to be done in the future so that inflation remains under control. One of them is maintaining the stability of food prices.
"What is important is that during August-December there will be no significant price spikes, stabilization of food and energy prices, so that the target of 3 percent plus minus 1 percent can be achieved," he added.
As previously reported, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported the yoy inflation rate in July 2023 of 3.08 percent.
BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini said the score was lower than June 2023 which was 3.52 percent yoy.
"Inflation has consistently decreased annually since March 2023," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 1.

Pudji said that, based on the expenditure group, transportation contributed most to annual inflation.
"When viewed from the commodity, the biggest contributors come from gasoline, rice, filter clove cigarettes, housing contracts, and transportation within the city," he said.
