Involved In A Brawl, KJP 5 Students In Johar Baru Are Revoked

JAKARTA - A total of 5 junior high school, vocational school or high school students involved in the brawl have been sent files for the process of withdrawing the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP). The revocation of the KJP had to be carried out by the government through the Central Jakarta Education Sub-dept. to provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators.

Head of the Central Jakarta Education Sub-dept. for Region II Bambang Eko Prabowo said that actually his party did not want to impose this sanction. But according to him this is a consequence of every act.

Furthermore, Bambang said that the revocation of the KJP was not immediately carried out. The process of revocation of the KJP went through several stages. First, after receiving a report from the police, his party conducted a cross check on several parties.

Starting from students who took part in the brawl, then the parents of the alleged perpetrators. After receiving information from parents and police, it was only determined to revoke the KJP facility.

"The revocation of the KJP is a tough thing, but it must be done. Hopefully this will be the last time," said Bambang when contacted, Wednesday, August 2.

In addition, Bambang said, to anticipate the brawl of all teachers in Region II, they had been collected and briefed. The briefing included disbanding students who gathered after school hours were over.

"So after school hours are over, apart from extracurricular participants, all students are asked to go home," he said.

Meanwhile, his party is also still waiting for additional data from the Sector Police regarding students involved in the brawl.

Previously, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, said that he had revoked KJP Plus for two students involved in the brawl.

The KJP recipients who were revoked were students of PKBM Negeri 16 and SMP Negeri 28. Based on the results of the search by the DKI Jakarta Education Office and parents' confessions, these two students were proven to have participated in a brawl in the Johar Baru area, Central Jakarta.

"Yesterday there were 2 fights, the KJP was revoked. Don't fight, study properly, we urge you. If in Jakarta school is free, just go to school," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, July 27.
