JATIM - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 7 Madiun revealed that in its operational area there are 215 railroad crossings. Of that number, 127 crossings were not maintained.
"In the Daop 7 Madiun area, until now there are 215 railroad crossings with details of 88 crossings maintained, 127 crossings are not maintained and 44 are not in the form of flyovers and underpas," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun Supriyanto when confirmed, Sunday 30 July, confiscated by Antara.
Supriyanto also regretted the economic train (KA) accident AC Rapih Dhoho with the MPV Daihatsu Luxio car with police number L 1009 XD at the level crossing, precisely km 85 between Jombang-Sembung station, East Java.
As a result of the accident on Jalan Raya Dusun Gondekan, Jabon Village, Jombang District, Jombang Regency, Saturday, July 29, 6 people died and 2 others were seriously injured.
The victims are currently in Jombang Hospital for further treatment.
This accident started when the Rapih Dhoho train was traveling on Saturday, July 29, at around 23.14 WIB. At the same time, there was also the car that was about to pass.
The car was traveling from north to south. The driver has also been warned and shouted at by residents who saw but did not hear and continued to drive through the railroad crossing. So it was unavoidable to hit the Dhoho Rapih Train.
He emphasized that PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun continues to make coordination efforts with local governments regarding the existence of crossings in a number of trains that are still not maintained. One of his efforts is to close illegal crossings and be guarded by residents.
However, he asked motorists to always be careful when crossing a railroad crossing. Drivers are advised to pause for a moment and turn off safely, no trains are near, and just pass by.
"With the orderly rules of road users and the optimal role of all stakeholders, it is hoped that safety at level crossings can be realized. So that train travel is not disrupted and road users also safely arrive at their destination," said Supriyanto.
