Violating Rules, UEFA Officially Bans Juventus From Playing At The Europa Conference League

JAKARTA - UEFA confirmed that Juventus will not participate in the Europa Conference League next season. This is because it violates financial fair play (FFP) rules.

Apart from being expelled from the competition, Juventus was also fined 20 million euros (around Rp302 billion) with half of that amount suspended.

"Juventus violated the UEFA regulatory framework... and it was decided to be removed from the UEFA men's club competition in the 2023/24 season," UEFA said in a statement quoting Antara.

UEFA said that an additional 10 million euros (IDR 151 billion) fine would only be applied if Juventus failed to comply with the FFP rules in the next three years.

Juventus said in a statement that they accepted the decision and would not appeal the sanctions.

"Juventus, while continuing to think the alleged violation was not important and his actions were correct, had stated that he accepted the decision," the Turin club said.

However, they insist that this is not "a recognition of any responsibility towards himself."

Juventus' position in the Conference League will be replaced by Fiorentina who finished 8th in the Italian League last season.

In May, Juventus agreed to pay a fine of more than 700,000 euros, as it engineered its transfer value, salary and financial reports regarding capital gains.

Last season, Juventus also received a points reduction, so that they finished seventh in the Italian League for the 2022/2023 season.
