Belgian GP Formula 1: Max Verstappen Aims For Eight Consecutive Victorys This Season
JAKARTA - Racer Max Verstappen is said to have targeted eight of his consecutive Formula 1 wins in the 2023 season at the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit this weekend.
Quoted from AFP, Thursday, Verstappen will seek to extend his unbeaten record and Red Bull's side before the summer holidays and return to the Netherlands for the next round.
'Spa is my favorite track. So, I'm looking forward to racing there and seeing the fans. I feel it's going to be a fun weekend. This is our last boost before the summer holidays," said the Dutchman.
After winning seven consecutive races and nine of these 11 races this year, the reigning world champion feels quite confident in his ability to survive and accelerate in Belgium, which is his birthplace.
Two more straight wins will see him level with former Red Bull and four-time champion Sebastian Vettel in 2013 who recorded nine wins and extended his team's winning record to 14.
There were only five riders who won seven consecutive races, namely Alberto Ascari, Michael Schumacher, Vettel, Nico Rosberg, and now Verstappen.
In addition, Verstappen is also eyeing a victory hat trick at the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend.
On the other hand, early weather forecasts have warned of the possibility of heavy rain. However, that doesn't make the 25-year-old driver worried. That would make it a little more interesting and 'chaotic! he said excited.

In addition, McLaren Lando Norris, who also has Belgian blood, also attempted to grab his first podium hat trick this season after his fine performance at the British GP and Hungarian GP. Even with the Mercedes driver and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton who also targets to stand on the podium at the Spa Circuit, Belgium.
Not only racing, the Belgian GP will also be filled with events to commemorate French racer Anthoine Hubert who died in the F2 race in 2018 due to bad weather. The event will be led by Alpine's Pierre Gasly.
The event follows widespread concerns about racing amid heavy rains following the death of Dutch teenager Dilano van't Hoff earlier this month.
