Kudus Customs And Excise Failed To Smuggle 264 Thousand Illegal Cigarettes, State Loss Rp227 Million

KUDUS - The Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC) Type Madya Excise Kudus, Central Java, thwarted the delivery of hundreds of thousands of illegal cigarettes using minibuses on Jalan Raya Kudus-Demak in Jati Wetan Village, Jati District, Kudus.

"The evidence of illegal cigarettes that were secured from prosecution last Sunday was 264,000 sticks," said Head of the KPPBC Information Extension and Service Section of the Kudus Intermediate Type of Excise Sandy Hendratmo Sopan quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 25.

He said hundreds of thousands of illegal cigarettes were in packaging totaling 13,200 packs of various brands.

The value of illegal cigarettes is estimated at IDR 331.32 million with a potential state loss of around IDR 227.08 million.

Sandy added that the case of sending illegal cigarettes could be revealed thanks to the analysis of intelligence received previously.

The Tiger Team Muria Customs and Excise Kudus smelled the shipment of excisable goods in the form of cigarettes suspected of being illegal using minibuses.

To ensure this information, the team immediately launched and conducted a sweep along Jalan Raya Kudus-Pati on July 23, 2023. At around 12.30 WIB, the team managed to find and follow the minibus according to the characteristics informed.

After successfully stopping the car on Jalan Raya Kudus-Demak, Jati Wetan Village, Jati District, Kudus Regency, officers conducted checks and found 13,200 packs of machine kretek cigarettes (SKM) with various brands.

All evidence of illegal cigarettes along with drivers and assistants, as well as transport cars, have been taken to KPPBC Type Madya Kudus Excise for further investigation.
