Ministry Of Social Affairs Distributes Social Assistance To The Peak Of Central Papua Which Is Drought

TIMIKA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is ready to distribute social assistance (bansos) for the community in two districts in Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province, which is experiencing a drought.

Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims of the Ministry of Social Affairs Adrianus Alla said his party was assisted by the Indonesian Air Force (AU) to bring social assistance from Jayapura and from Jakarta.

"Tomorrow Tuesday (25/7) it will be distributed from Timika to Sinak District in Puncak Regency," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 24.

According to Adrianus, there are 17 tons of food, clothing, and blankets, which will be distributed to people affected by drought in Agandugume and Lambewi Districts in Puncak Regency.

"The data we got were 7,000 affected residents and currently need help in order to survive," he said.

He explained that for now the most important thing is to meet the basic needs of the community first, because the number is quite large, so it really needs attention.

"In addition to social assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, there are also TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono who will be distributed through Sinak District," he said.

He said that the evacuation process and medical personnel that will be prepared for the community in these two districts will be re-evaluated by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the TNI.

"Currently we prioritize food, drink, and clothing needs first, so that there are first aid steps for the community," he said.
