BYD Ekspansi Ke Morocco, Indonesia When?
JAKARTA - BYD Auto, a vehicle manufacturer from China, is increasingly showing its popularity with various electrification models that not only prioritize innovation, but also offer affordable prices. The company continues to expand its wings and manages to win the hearts of consumers in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
With continued innovation and commitment to delivering affordable electric vehicles, BYD Auto managed to attract global attention, especially in June 2022 when beating Tesla as the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer.
In its latest efforts, BYD has stepped into the Moroccan market, introducing its three flagship models: BYD Han EV, BYD Tang EV, and Atto 3. These three models have been exhibited in Morocco and will soon be present to meet local market demand. With this step forward, BYD hopes to drive the local assembly of vehicles in the future, strengthening relations with Morocco.
Not only expanding global reach, BYD also demonstrated its commitment to accelerating the adoption of electrification transportation in Morocco in collaboration with local company Auto Nejma.
As in the American and European markets, BYD also adapts these vehicles to the steering system on the left, following Morocco's policy of setting the system standard.
BYD's positive achievement in Morocco gave a strong signal that Indonesia is also a potential market for this producer. Some time ago, the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, visited the BYD auto industry factory in China, increasing speculation about the potential presence of BYD in the Indonesian automotive industry.
This information was further strengthened when the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, reported to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, about the interest of one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers planning to invest in Indonesia.

According to Luhut, the manufacturer is committed to investing US$1.3 billion or around Rp. 19.5 trillion to market electric vehicles in Indonesia. Although the brand was not disclosed, it is likely that the company is BYD, considering that the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enter the Indonesian market last May.
