Pertamina Refinery In Balikpapan Capable Of Production Of 2.6 Million Barrels In January-June 2023
JAKARTA - The Pertamina Balikpapan refinery produces avtur (airplane fuel) of up to 2.6 million barrels in the January-June 2023 period.
"This production increased by approximately 62 percent from the January-June 2022 period," said Public Relations of PT Kilang Pertamina International (KPI) Balikpapan Unit Ely Chandra Warinangin, quoted from Antara, Saturday, July 3.
According to Chandra, this very significant increase in production is because aviation fuel demand is also increasing rapidly.
"Because the products produced at the refinery always take into account the needs of the market and society," continued Chandra Warinangin.
The decline in the COVID-19 outbreak has made the world of aviation excited again, believed by Chandra as the main cause of the increasing demand.
At Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan, for example, there are now two international routes. Hajj flights using wide-body aircraft are also fully operational again.
A number of new airlines are also now competing to serve domestic routes. Airlines or airlines that have been around for a long time have also increased the schedule or increased the number of aircraft.
At the time of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri, more than 2 million passengers were served by the airports of PT Angkasa Pura 1. There are no less than 650 domestic routes serving flights for these passengers.
