Police Arrest 2 Women And Buyers Of Baby Sellers From Bekasi For IDR 30 Million
Police officers uncovered a case of buying and selling babies in Semarang City, Central Java, involving two women as sellers and buyers.
Semarang Deputy Chief of Police AKBP Wiwit Ari Wibisono said the 14-day-old baby sold by his mother with the initials HI (29) from Bekasi, West Java, was offered through social media Facebook.
AP (39), a resident of Mranggen, Demak Regency, Central Java, responded to the offer, which they then communicated to meet.
In uploads on social media, the baby mother offers her child for adoption.
"Both met at a hotel in the Tugu sub-district to take the baby," said Wiwit as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 18.
In the meeting which took place on July 11, 2023, AP gave Rp30 million to buy the fourth child HI.
Wiwit said a few days after the sale and purchase transaction, HI came to the police station to ask for help finding the woman who bought her child.

HI admitted that he regretted selling the baby because he needed money to pay off his debt. The perpetrator was also afraid after her husband always asked about her child's whereabouts.
For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection.
