Riots In Dogiyai, Central Papua, Residents' Houses Burned, Members Of The Cartenz Peace Task Force Attacked
The Papuan Police sent Brimob troops from Nabire Regency to Dogiyai Regency, Central Papua, to help deal with riots in the area.
Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said his party had sent a platoon of Brimob to Dogiyai. In addition, he added, the Papuan Police have also assigned the head of the operations bureau and head of the professional and security sector (propam) to the area.
The riots in Dogiyai began when an unknown group of residents, Thursday (13/7), intercepted and attacked a vehicle containing members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force who were about to go to Paniai to escort their sick colleagues.
After the ambush and attack, it was reported that an unknown person burned a resident's house until Friday morning.
"There have been no reports of how many houses were burned down, including the fatalities," said Inspector General Fakhiri as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 14.

The riots in Dogiyai began when a car containing members of the Cartenzendak Peace Task Force escorted one of the officers who was sick for treatment at the Paniai Hospital.
The car was then intercepted by an unknown group of residents while crossing Idakebo village, North Kamu District.
When the vehicle stopped, suddenly an unknown group of people attacked by throwing an ax at the car, causing the glass to burst and hit the member in the car.
The group also had time to attack and try to seize the firearms carried by the members, resulting in gunfire and pursuit of the unknown group of people towards the mountain.
