Continuing Wagon Heritage, The Latest VW Passat Will Be Marketed In 2024
JAKARTA - Volkswagen, a German vehicle manufacturer, recently released the latest generation of its flagship wagon, Passat, with a number of changes both to the exterior and interior. This latest Passat promises better driver comfort and experience, and provides a sense of security to motorists.
Kai Grunitz, Volkswagen's Member of the Brand Board Development, explains that they have improved the comfort and performance of driving on All-New Passat. This is achieved through a longer increase in wheelbase and adoption of new adaptive chassis control with two-valve shock damping. In addition, the design and new display introduced at Passat are highly intuitive. The manufacturer also offers massage chairs with temperature controllers, which show premium standards on the interior of this car.
This ninth generation passat has impressive dimensions as a wagon car, with a length of 4,917 mm, a width of 1,852 mm, a height of 1,482 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,841 mm. This larger dimension makes the latest Passat wider than the previous model, providing more space for passengers and goods.
The latest passat is equipped with an LED matrix light at the front, which can optimize the lighting system up to a distance of 500 meters. On the back, Passat follows the latest trend with an LED light bar design connected to the rear light.
This vast excess of dimensions provides a spacious cargo space. With the rear seat installed, there is 690 liters of cargo space available. The cargo space can be expanded to 1,920 liters when the back seat is folded.
Passat 2024 will share several components with the Tiguan 2024 which has previously been introduced with a little camouflage. The Passat interior will adopt a digital instrument cluster of Tiguan measuring 10.25 inches, as well as a 12.9-inch infotainment display. Customers also have the option to choose a larger infotainment screen size, which is 15 inches.
Based on the MQB Evo platform, Passat 2024 will come with various engine options, including TDI (turbo-diesel), TSI (turbocharged gasoline), eTSI (mild-hybrid), and EHYBERD (plug-in hybrid), which is in line with the machine options offered in the 2024 Tiguan.
For the PHEV (ehybrid) variant, it is estimated that it will produce a power of 268 dk and be able to move completely with electric power with a range of up to 120 km. However, the manufacturer has not disclosed the battery capacity used.
Volkswagen plans to launch the All-New Passat by the end of August with details of further specifications. The market is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2024.
