Three Indonesian Players Get Heavy Sanctions From AFC After Chaos In The 2023 SEA Games Final Against Thailand
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has imposed severe sanctions on a number of players for the rioting incident in the 2023 SEA Games final between the Indonesian national team and Thailand.
There are three Indonesian national team players who have received sanctions from the AFC. The players are Titan Agung Bagus, Komang Teguh Trisnanda, and Muhammad Taufany Muslihuddin.
Titan Agung and Komang Teguh were declared to have violated the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code Article 47 so that they were sentenced to a six-match ban and a fine of 1,000 dollars (Rp 14,941,650).
Meanwhile, Muhammad Taufany was declared to have violated the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code Article 51, but he was only subject to a six-match ban without being fined.
In addition to the three players, the AFC also sentenced several Indonesian national team officials. The officials are Tegar Diokta Andias (team secretary), Sahari Gultom (goalkeeper coach), Ahmad Nizar Caesara Noor (team doctor), and Muhni Toid Sarnad.
Tegar and Sahari Gultom were sentenced to not accompany the team for six matches and a fine of $1,000, while Ahmad Nizar and Muhni Toid were suspended for six matches without being fined.
Reporting from Antara, apart from the Indonesian side, the Thailand national team also did not escape the AFC sentence. For players, the AFC only sentenced Soponwit Rakyart, who was suspended for six matches and fined $1,000.
As for the officials of the Thailand team who were convicted by the AFC, the number far exceeded Indonesia, which was eight people. The eight people were all suspended for six matches, but not all of them were fined.

However, the Thai Football Federation (FAT) was fined 10,000 dollars for violating the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code Article 51.1.
In the final match of the 2023 SEA Games which was won by the Indonesian national team with a score of 5-2, there was a commotion between the two camps. A number of players and officials from both teams got involved in a battle before the match ended.
The AFC then conducted an investigation into the chaos, and after the agency's Ethics and Disciplinary Committee held a meeting on July 11, a decision was made to impose punishment on the parties involved through a statement contained on the organization's official website.
