Around 30 Minutes, President Jokowi Ensures BIJB Kertajati Fully Operates October 2023
MAJALENGKA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ensured that West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, Majalengka, began full operation in October 2023 or received commercial flight diversion from Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung.
"Later starting in October, the full operation will be carried out, meaning that from Husein Sastranegara Airport to Kertajati, especially for the jet plane," said President Jokowi after reviewing the BIJB Kertajati facility, in Majalengka, West Java, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 11.
The President landed at BIJB Kertajati boarding the Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft at around 08.00 WIB.
The President was welcomed by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Akhmad Wiyagus, and Siliwangi Military Commander Major General Kunto Arief Wibowo.
After about 30 minutes of traveling, the President held a press conference. The Head of State appreciated BIJB Kertajati's activities, which he considered very good.
Jokowi reminded BIJB Kertajati that it had been used as an airport for Hajj embarkation for around 8,000 pilgrims from seven regencies/cities in West Java.
"I am also happy that Kertajati Airport has also served Umrah flights up to four times a week, plus serving international flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kertajati twice per week," he said.

In addition to the Minister of Transportation and the Governor of West Java, accompanying the President in the review of BIJB Kertajati were Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
As of May 28, 2023, Kertajati Airport has returned to operation by serving Hajj and Umrah flights.
Kertajati Airport is the second largest airport in Indonesia after Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The airport has a passenger terminal capacity of 5.6 million passengers per year.
