South Sulawesi MUI Regrets Hajj Showing Off Gold Assets After Returning From The Holy Land
The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of South Sulawesi Province regretted the behavior of the pilgrims from South Sulawesi who showed off their gold jewelry upon arrival at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar after performing the pilgrimage in the holy land, Saudi Arabia.
"Regarding the congregation who showed off their jewelry after leaving Mecca, the pilgrimage should have a deep message and wisdom with the position of a servant to Allah SWT," said South Sulawesi MUI Secretary Muammar Bakry as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 10.
He explained that the pilgrimage process only brought Irhams or only two pieces of white cloth to be used as clothes while in the holy land. So, it means that the symbols of wealth are then abandoned during the pilgrimage process.
"The pilgrimage shows that there is nothing human position before God. In a zero, zero position. All wealth and pleasure belongs to God, and that is what shows in Padang Arafah when Wukuf," he said.
In addition, everyone did not bring their positions and others to join the tent in Padang Arafah to show their weaknesses in front of Allah SWT.
"This process should have been carried away after Hajj. Even if we have assets, it is only temporary, entrusted and not ours forever. So that people have assets, of course, their assets are not to be proud of, let alone exhibited," he said.
But with his wealth, it is even closer to AllahSWT and fellow humans. That is the message of Hajj, especially to achieve the prosperity of Hajj, there must be a difference after Hajj what a positive impact it will have in society.
Because of the pilgrimage, he said, a pilgrim wants to be an example for the community. The more pilgrims go home, the more role models become role models for the community.
