Government Adds JIS Parking Pockets To FIFA Standards, PKS: Not In Line With Our Policies
JAKARTA - Member of the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ismail, does not agree with the government's plan to increase the parking capacity of Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) visitors in improvements ahead of the U-17 World Cup.
According to Ismail, the addition of the parking location for this international standard stadium was not in line with the JIS design since it was built.
Where, when the construction was carried out in the Anies Baswedan era as the Governor of DKI, the JIS parking location was deliberately made with a small capacity with the aim of encouraging people to use public transportation.
"I think this is also not in line with our general policy to reduce the use of private vehicles towards the use of mass vehicles," said Ismail at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Wednesday, July 5.
However, Ismail views that efforts to make people switch to using public transportation were not carried out by the DKI Provincial Government after Anies stepped down. This can be seen from the change in the priority route for LRT development from previously planned Kelapa Gading-JIS to Velodrome-Manggarai.
"Visitors using private vehicles flock to it because JIS is designed to be visited using public transportation. That is why one of the indicators, for example, LRT, is going to JIS to facilitate public transportation to JIS," explained Ismail.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to increase the parking capacity of visitors to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in order to meet the requirements as an U-17 World Cup venue next November.
Bearing in mind, this international standard stadium can accommodate 82 thousand spectators. However, the available parking capacity can only accommodate 1,200 motorized vehicles, both wheels, four wheels and buses.
This was revealed by Syafrin after the JIS review by the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and his staff on Tuesday, July 4.
One of the locations that will be converted into a parking lot for JIS visitors is the land for the construction of the Sunter Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) which is on the west side of JIS.
"Later in front of here, it is intended that the ITF will be fully used as a parking location. So there will be additional parking locations," said Syafrin.

In addition to ITF land, there are several locations that have also been transformed into JIS parking bags. Among them are the former residential land of Bambu Village which houses 5,000 vehicles.
Additional JIS parking locations that will also be prepared are in the eastern Ancol area with a capacity of 1,000 four-wheeled vehicles or more.
