BLITAR- Officers of the Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP) of Blitar City and the Association of Indonesian Veterinarians (PDHI) East Java 8 conducted an examination during the slaughter of sacrificial animals at the At-Taqwa Mosque, Kepanjen Kidul District, Blitar City, East Java, during Eid al-Adha 2023, found worms in the liver organs of one of the sacrificial animals. Animal doctor The Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) East Java 8, Dewi Masitoh, stated that the examination of the sacrificial animal meat was carried out to ensure whether the meat was feasible or not consumed. "We carried out antemortem and postmortem examinations. For the postmortem ones, we examined the internal organs, including the liver organs," he said in Blitar, Wednesday, June 28. His staff examined one by one the meat of the slaughtered animals. In the At-Taqwa Mosque, Kepanjen Kidul District, Blitar City, the committee slaughtered four cows and three goats. From the results of the examination of the slaughtered sacrificial animal meat, it turned out that his party found a liver organ with worms. From the findings, it was recommended that the liver organs were not distributed but destroyed, because they were not suitable for consumption. "The results of the first examination of the cows. We found the organs in there were indications of liver worms, so they were not suitable for consumption. Meanwhile, for their meat, it was safe to consume," he said. Even though they found liver organs containing worms, Dewi Masitoh added in general the sacrificial animals slaughtered in the At-Taqwa Mosjid, Kepanjen Kidul District, Blitar City, they were in a healthy condition and met the requirements to be used as sacrificial animals.
