208 Thousand Illegal Cigarettes From Jepara Arrested In Kudus, Customs And Excise Taksir Value Reaches IDR 261 Million
A total of 208,000 illegal cigarettes from Jepara failed to circulate in Kudus, Central Java. This was revealed from the operation of the Madya Kudus Customs Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC).
Head of the KPPBC Kudus Counseling and Information Service Section, Sandy Hendratmo Sopan, said the disclosure was based on information on illegal cigarette shipments.
"Evidence of such illegal cigarettes was successfully secured from one of the goods delivery service agents in Ngembal Kulon Village, Jati District, Kudus Regency," he said in Kudus, Tuesday, June 27, which was confiscated by Antara.
Sandy explained that the information was followed up by KPPBC Kudus by deploying a team to conduct inspections of several suspicious packages.
As a result, six packages containing machine kretek cigarettes (SKM) were found with various brands without excise stamps attached. Including seven cartons of packages containing SKM cigarettes with various brands without excise stamps attached.

Sandy said the value of the illegal cigarette evidence was estimated at Rp261.04 million with a potential state loss of Rp178.91 million.
With the crackdown on illegal cigarettes again using e-commerce and shipping services, KPPBC Kudus invites cooperation from all elements of society to monitor potential state losses from cigarettes without excise.
Sandy said a similar case was revealed in mid-June 2023, with 34,400 illegal cigarettes packaged in two sacks of packages sent to one of the shipping service agents in Pecangaan Kulon, Pecangaan District, Jepara Regency.
The value of illegal cigarette goods is IDR 43.17 million with a potential state loss of IDR 29.59 million.
