COVID-19 Status Has Changed, Puan Remembers Celebrating Eid Al-Adha Previously Full Of Worry
JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, is grateful that the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia has been revoked, especially before the celebration of Eid al-Adha 2023.
"Eiduladha is a time to celebrate togetherness and share love with others. In this moment, changing the status of COVID-19 to endemic provides new hope for all of us. This is a special blessing that we need to be grateful for," said Puan, Friday, June 23.
The change in pandemic status to endemic is proof that Indonesia has achieved a good level of control in dealing with the COVID-19 virus. Now Muslims can celebrate the moment of Eid al-Adha more calmly and safely.
If you recall the beginning of the last pandemic, we celebrate Hari Raya with great concern. There are many limits that must be put in place to reduce the spread of the virus," said the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.
"But now we have managed to get out of those moments. The Indonesian people have shown extraordinary resilience during this pandemic," added Puan.
"And high appreciation needs to be given to all health workers, the TNI/Polri, and volunteers who are at the forefront of facing the pandemic. Don't forget that the COVID-19 Task Force is working tirelessly, and various community organizations are also participating in helping," added Puan.

On the other hand, the change in the status of the pandemic to endemic is also considered to provide hope for a better future for Indonesia. With the repeal of the pandemic status, Puan hopes that people can return to normal life.
"Without strict restrictions, of course this will have an effect on improving the socio-economic quality of the community which will have a positive impact, and will have a good impact on the Indonesian economy," he explained.
Puan said stable economic recovery is very important to overcome the long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, she stressed that business actors and business actors in sectors affected by COVID-19 could focus more on recovery strategies and long-term business plans after Indonesia entered the endemic.
"Endemic status gives confidence to business people and investors to take steps to move forward in restoring the economy," said Puan.
Puan encouraged the Government to provide economic stimulus with various tax incentive programs, and financial assistance. Then also, added Puan, a training program to support sectors affected by COVID-19.
At least for Contribution Assistance Recipients (PBI) Health Insurance or residents who do not have the ability to pay for vaccines. I also urge the public to remain disciplined in health even though the condition of Covid-19 in Indonesia has been handled properly," said Puan.
