JAKARTA - The World Superbike (WSBK) agenda has been held twice at the Mandalika Circuit. However, unpleasant issues have now surfaced.
The Mandalika Circuit is rumored to be no longer holding WSBK races due to losses. The plan to remove WSBK from the Mandalika Circuit was widely discussed on social media after a post emerged from the @LambeResing account.
The account wrote about InJourney's plan to delete the WSBK event with the title Mandalika will cross out WSBK?
The reason is, InJourney as the manager of the circuit lost up to Rp100 trillion. This news was discussed and trending on Twitter.
"InJourney's Managing Director, Dony Maritalia, stated that Mandalika will remove the WSBK event from their calendar for causing losses of up to Rp100 billion," the account was quoted as saying on Friday, June 16.
"For comparison, MotoGP also makes Mandalika lose, but only IDR 50 billion," continued the statement.
In addition, this account also conveyed that the plan to withdraw Mandalika from the WSBK event was the impact of the Mandalika Circuit project which still left a debt of IDR 4.6 trillion.

However, there are also those who regret the deletion plan because they think the event could be income for local residents.
