Defense Minister Prabowo Calls Strong Countries Need Superior Police
BANDUNG - Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia needed superior police because he considered this a requirement to become a strong and successful country.
Prabowo conveyed this after he was a speaker in a national dialogue at the Staff School and Leadership of the National Police Education and Training Institute (Sespim Lemdiklat), Lembang, West Bandung Regency, West Java.
"We need superior police officers. That is in the history of human civilization, a strong country, a successful country, always having superior police officers, great police officers, police loved by the people," Prabowo was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Friday, June 16.
He said that the entire Indonesian nation was waiting for the Polri service. Therefore, he advised the Indonesian police to become superior and resilient police officers.
"The message was that the state, nation and people were waiting for your service. Be the superior police, be tough Bhayangkara, that's my message," he said.
Prabowo also explained that based on history, Indonesian police were born from the results of the struggle, not from colonial forms.
"Our police have taken up arms to join the war, participate in the war for our independence, work hand in hand with all other elements," said the Minister of Defense.
Related to this, Prabowo admitted that he remembers his uncle who died in the police duties.
"I am nothing, my uncle was a special police officer, he died. That's why I know the police are taking up arms, joining the war," added Prabowo.
