WSBK Event In Mandalika Disrupts, Minister Of SOEs: Events Are Harmful, We Renegotiate
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said he would renegotiate international events or events at the Mandalika Circuit which are burdensome for the finance of the Aviation and Tourism Industry Holding, InJourney.
As is known, InJourney plans to renegotiate to remove the World Superbike (WSBK) event on the Mandalika circuit. The WSBK event is considered not to provide significant profits for the company's finances.
Furthermore, Erick explained that business negotiations are actually commonplace.
"There are several events that I think are burdensome, for example, we are renegotiating. Yes, that's a common thing," said Erick when met at the DPR RI Building, Thursday, June 15.
As for the MotoGP event which will be held at the Mandalika Circuit this year, Erick said, it will still be maintained.
Erick said, the impact of the MotoGP event still had a more positive impact on the Mandalika area.
With this event, said Erick, it is hoped that Indonesia's image as the host of the international motorcycle racing event can get better.
"But if we maintain the MotoGP because it is very positive for branding a country. If we look at yesterday's many international events, it also supports tourism in the future," he said.

Even so, Erick admitted that the positive impact on the region and tourism in general could only be felt in the future.
"Although of course in the short term it has not been felt, if it has been 2-3 years it will become a sustainable brand, it will become a strength," he said.
