Salah Pasang Pedek, Bugatti Withdraws One Super Sport Chiron Unit
JAKARTA - Bugatti, a supercar manufacturer from France, recently announced a rare recall for the Chiron Super Sport model. This is because only one Chiron Super Sport unit has been recalled for March 2023 production.
Bugatti did the 2023 Chiron Super Sport recall because of the improper installation of rims. This can have a negative impact on car performance, especially when used at high speed.
Reporting from Motor1 on Wednesday, June 14, the affected Chiron has a light BBS rim mounted on Chiron Sport, even though the rim does not match the Super Sport variant.
Installation of this improper rim can pose a dangerous risk when the vehicle is driven in Top Speed mode. However, if the vehicle is driven in other modes, it is still safe. This Chinese New Year installation error occurred due to an error in the IT system during the assembly process at the factory.
By using improper rims, the downward pressure force can be reduced, which can ultimately interfere with vehicle handling at dangerous high speeds. Bugatti has checked all the remaining vehicle configurations and has not reassembled Super Sport after the Chinese New Year installation error was found. No Chinese New Year installation errors were found in other vehicles.
Bugatti will contact the affected vehicle owners to arrange for free rim replacement. The replacement includes new tires, valves, and sensors.

This is not the first time a recall has been made for a single vehicle unit by an automotive manufacturer. Previously, Land Rover recalled one unit of the 2023 Range Rover model in the US. The recall was made due to an oil leak in a 4.4 liter V8 engine that could cause a fire.
