Semarang Zoo Arrival Of 2 Sumatran Elephants Grants From Borobudur Temple Tourism Park
MAGELANG - PT Taman Satwa Semarang or Semarang Zoo received a grant of two Sumatran elephants aka elephas maximus Sumatranus from PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (TWC).
President Director of PT TWC Febrina Intan said that the two Sumatran elephant grants (Elephasmen Sumatranus) are to support the sustainability program for animal conservation and public education regarding fauna in Indonesia.
Intan explained that the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park has five elephants consisting of two males named Bona and Endra and three females named Eca, Lisi, and Zella.
"Regularly, the handlers also take the five elephants for a walk, walking around enjoying the natural beauty around them. The five elephants also receive regular treatment and medical checks to ensure their health," he said in a press release, Wednesday, June 14, which was confiscated by Antara.
He continued, the five elephants were given a proper place to live, enjoyed fresh grass, and complementary foods in the form of carrots, long beans, and cucumber.
"Even tourists can interact with the five elephants while capturing them with cameras," he said.

Currently, Bona and Zella are pairs of elephants placed at Semarang Zoo. The process of moving two elephants to Semarang Zoo was carried out on June 13, 2023.
The grant process begins with joint coordination to oversee the process of transferring animals from the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area to Semarang Zoo.
This protected animal mining also involves cooperation with various parties, including the Central Java BKSDA, Yogyakarta BKSDA, Magelang Police, Central Java Forestry Police, relevant zoo managers, veterinarians, academics, elephant handlers (mahout) and a number of related NGOs.
