Participating in Legislative Candidates But Having ASN Status, KPU Loudly Shouts to Turn Back

TANGERANG - The General Election Commission (KPU) of South Tangerang (Tangsel) has spoken out about two local government state civil servants (ASN) who registered themselves as candidates for legislative candidates (Bacaleg).

Tangsel City Election Commission Implementation Technical Division, Ajat Sudrajat suggested that ASNs who register candidates should resign from their position. Because this has been regulated by General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) Number 10 of 2023.

To, the two ASNs who registered themselves as legislative candidates were Yanuar, Head of Development Administration at the Tangsel City Regional Secretariat. The second Bacaleg, Tomi Patria Edwardy Head of Archive Management Division at the Library and Archives Service.

"We will convey that several legislative candidates must resign," Ajat told reporters at the Tangsel KPU, Tuesday, June 13.

Ajat said, there is a timeframe ahead for the data checking stage until June 23, 2023. He conveyed this after a coordination meeting with General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), National Army (TNI)/National Police (Polri) and the Tangsel City Human Resources Development Personnel Agency (BKPSDM).

"We will check. During the submission period. We will also convey to the relevant institutions, whether the Legislators who registered yesterday were ASNs," he said
