Jokowi Signs Presidential Decree To Accelerate VVIP Airport Development At IKN
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 31 of 2023 concerning the Acceleration of Construction and Operation of Very Very Important Airport Persons (VVIP) to Support the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN).
It is said that the acceleration of the construction and operation of VVIP airports needs to be carried out immediately to develop flight infrastructure and support IKN connectivity.
"VVIP Airport is a special airport that is used to serve the interests of government activities in IKN," wrote Article 2 of the Presidential Regulation as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 9.
The construction and operation of the VVIP airport is located in Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Later, the need for land, facilities and facility layout, as well as the airport's flight operations safety area will be determined by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi.
In the Presidential Decree, President Jokowi assigned the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi to accelerate the development and operation of IKN VVIP Airport.

The implementation of development assignments includes technical planning, land acquisition, construction implementation, operation, maintenance, and funding.
The assignment for construction consists of four facilities, namely first safety and security facilities, the two air side facilities including runways, runway strips, Runway End Safety Area,stopway, runways, connecting runways (taxiway), and parking runways, the three landside facilities, including roads within the area, and the four access roads to VVIP airport. President Jokowi also established the construction and operation of VVIP airports sourced from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and legal Iain sources, and not binding in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
Meanwhile, land acquisition for the construction of VVIP Airport, comes from land provided by the Land Bank Agency.
