New Ministry Of Transportation's Budget Realization Reaches IDR 10.44 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation received a budget allocation of IDR 33.41 trillion in 2023. The realization of the absorption of the budget only reached IDR 10.44 trillion as of May 2023.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the figure was equivalent to 31.26 percent of the total budget ceiling.

Even so, Budi admitted, the absorption of the budget ceiling has not been maximized.

For this matter, Budi said he was optimistic that the realization of this year's budget absorption would be better than the previous year.

"We report that the 2023 budget as of May has been absorbed by 30 percent. We are trying to do this better than last year because we have practically carried out the contracts that we have to carry out," he said in a meeting with Commission V of the DPR, Tuesday, June 6.

The details are the budget for personnel expenditure of IDR 1.75 trillion or 45.9 percent of the total allocation of IDR 3.81 trillion.

Then, the realization of goods expenditures amounted to Rp4.52 trillion or 29.7 percent of Rp15.23 trillion, and the realization of capital expenditures of Rp4.17 trillion or 26.5 percent of Rp15.75 trillion.

Budi said, the average budget absorption in each echelon I is around 30 percent.

According to him, only two echelon I units of budget absorption are still below the average, namely the Directorate General of Railways and BPSDM.

Therefore, continued Budi, several steps will be taken to improve budget implementation. Such as improving the quality of planning, accelerating the implementation of programs or activities or projects.

Then, accelerate the implementation of the procurement of goods or services (PBJ). Then, improve the quality of spending through increased efficiency and effectiveness of spending.

"Finally, increasing monitoring and evaluation," he said.
