JAKARTA - The unexpected achievement was achieved by Indonesian weightlifters, Margono, at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games. He far exceeded the expectations of many people.
Margono, who first participated in the ASEAN Para Games, immediately presented two gold medals. In fact, he is only targeted to present a silver medal.
The two gold medals also came from the 65 kilogram class and the men's 65 kilograms total number. Margono won the best score with 161 points, and a total of 467 points to ensure the gold medal at the Cambodian 2023 ASEAN Para Games at Phnom Penh, Monday, June 5.
"Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful to be able to win two gold medals," said Margono, as quoted from Antara.
Margono revealed that he was undergoing preparations to participate in the first ASEAN Para Games in just two months. However, that didn't prevent him from giving his best.
"The preparation is to participate in the NPC Indonesia National Training Center in Solo only, because the national training is independent, so they participated in the national training program in Solo for two months. Initially the target was silver, but thank God they were able to prove it with two gold," said the man who was born in 1983.
